The second edition Miss Universe will take place at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California, United States on July 17, 1953. The inaugural queen Armi Helena Kuusela, 18, of Finland has resigned so “Bend of the River” star Julie Adams, 26, will crown the new queen.
Colette Ribes was supposed to represent Morocco. However, she withdrew before the coronation night.
Now that Ribes is out of the competition, only 26 women will compete for the Miss Universe 1953 crown. Here is the list:
