Helen K. Vogt was an American woman from Erie, Pennsylvania, United States. At around 7:00 a.m. on July 23, 1988, a neighbor saw her 1988 Buick LeSabre back out of her garage in Erie at a high rate of speed and a towel was wrapped around the driver’s head.

The neighbor went to check on Vogt and found her dead in the second-floor bedroom of her townhouse. A two-pronged fork and two kitchen knives were used to stab her more than 50 times.

Detectives found no sign of forced entry. Vogt’s briefcase was empty and several items including a white purse, a watch, credit cards and her diamond ring were missing.
