Kenya’s Josephine Wanjiku Mbatia competes at Miss Universe 1995 in Windhoek, Namibia

Josephine Wanjiku Mbatia of Taita-Taveta, Kenya is the third Miss Universe Kenya. She was Miss Kenya 1994.

On May 12, 1995, Mbatia represented Kenya at Miss Universe 1995. Bob Goen and Daisy Fuentes hosted the coronation ceremony, which was held at the Windhoek Country Club Resort in Windhoek, Namibia and broadcast by CBS and Namibian Broadcasting Corporation.

It was the 44th edition of the international beauty pageant. Mbatia competed against 81 other candidates and was unplaced.

It was Chelsi Mariam Pearl Smith of the United States who was crowned Miss Universe 1995. She succeeded Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen of India.

Runner-up to Smith was Manpreet Kaur Brar of India while Lana Buchberger of Canada was second runner-up. The only candidate from Africa who placed was Augustine Masilela of South Africa, who finished in the Top 10
