Christopher Hervey of Santa Ana, Orange County, California, United States has died. He was 22.
Harvey lived in an apartment on 2205 N. Broadway Street in Santa Ana. He shared it with his girlfriend Jade Benning, 22.
At around 3:00 a.m. on January 4, 1996, Santa Ana Police Department officers responded to the apartment regarding a call of a black suspect who had forced entry into the apartment and stabbed Hervey numerous times in the upper torso. According to his neighbors, they heard a loud argument inside the apartment that lasted for around 15 minutes shortly before he was murdered.
When interviewed by detectives, Benning made general statements about the incident. According to her, a black male intruder entered the apartment while she and Hervey slept.
Benning told police that she and Hervey struggled with the intruder before the intruder stabbed Hervey and fled. She said she was slashed in the hand while trying to save her boyfriend.
Hervey died at the hospital. The weapon used to stab him has yet to be located.
The homicide was likely a burglary gone wrong, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. A suspect has yet to be identified.
