Rachel Mbuki Marete of Baringo, Kenya won Miss Universe Kenya 2005. It was the second edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Kenya’s Miss Universe candidate.
Marete was crowned by Miss Universe Kenya 2004 Anita Maina of Nairobi, Kenya. The Baringo native represented Kenya at Miss Universe 2005, making her the sixth woman to represent the African country in Miss Universe.

Hosted by Billy Bush and Nancy O’Dell, the Miss Universe 2005 coronation night was held at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on May 31, 2005. Marete competed against 80 other candidates.
It was Natalie Glebova of Canada who won the Miss Universe 2005 crown while Marete was unplaced. The only African candidate who placed was Claudia Henkel of South Africa, who finished in the Top 15.
