Jorge J. Masvidal Jr., 21, of Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States and David Gardner, 28, of Murrieta, Riverside County, California, USA headlined the HOOKnSHOOT event “Absolute Fighting Championships 15”. It marked the promotional debut of the latter.

Featuring 10 MMA matches, “AFC 15” was held at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida on February 18, 2006. Jorge Alonso served as the referee of the main event, a welterweight bout between Masvidal and Gardner.
Alonso stopped the fight after 4 minutes and 34 seconds in the second round. Masvidal won via technical knockout via punches.
Losing to Masvidal downgraded Gardner’s professional MMA record to 8 wins and 4 losses. The fighter from Murietta made his professional MMA debut on March 22, 2002.

Jorge Masvidal
Born and raised in Miami, Masvidal attended St. Brendan High School in Westchester, Miami-Dade County. While in high school, he competed in wrestling but he failed to stay eligible because of his grades.
On May 24, 2003, Masvidal made his professional MMA debut. The first six opponents he defeated were Brandon Bledsoe, Brian Geraghty, Rolando Delgado, Julian Ortega, Justin Wisniewski and Joe Lauzon.
Masvidal is 5’11” tall. He is a former lightweight.
