Based in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines, ABS-CBN Corporation owns and operates a record label called Star Music. Also known as Star Records, the label is a member of the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI).
Star Music
Created by ABS-CBN Corporation, Star Music was founded as Star Recording, Inc. on February 20, 1995. In September 1995, the label signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Sony Music Entertainment Philippines in the entire Philippines except in Metro Manila.
In October 1996, Star Records renewed its licensing deal with Sony Music Entertainment Philippines, which included 30 dealerships in Metro Manila. In June 1997, the former signed a distribution and licensing agreement with Rock Records, a record label based in Neihu, Taipei, Taiwan.
“Kris Lawrence”
On May 11, 2006, Star Music released an extended play titled “Kris Lawrence”. It is the debut EP of Kristoffer Lawrence Protacio Cadevida, a Filipino-American singer and songwriter professionally known as Kris Lawrence.
The self-titled EP has four English songs and two Tagalog songs. Lawrence co-wrote one of the Tagalog songs with Vehnee Saturno.

Kris Lawrence
Lawrence was born in Los Angeles, California, United States to Loreto Cadevida and Justina Protacio. Loreto and Justina’s daughter Laurie Kristi Cadevida is also a singer.
On June 16, 2005, Laurie turned 21. On September 1, 2005, Lawrence turned 23.
From September 4, 2005 to January 22, 2006, ABS-CBN aired the second season of its singing competition television show “Search for the Star in a Million“. It featured 12 contestants including Lawrence.
In the nine episodes prior to the grand finals, Lawrence ranked number one twice. He was never in the Bottom 2 or Bottom 3.
In the end, Lawrence was declared the grand champion. Runner-up to Lawrence was Tata Villaruel and Jimmy Marquez was the second runner-up.
