Jorge Masvidal, 22, of Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States fought in BodogFIGHT for the third time. The mixed martial arts promotion was founded by Calvin Ayre, 45.

Featuring 10 MMA matches, the BodogFIGHT event was held at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey, USA on July 14, 2007. The fifth match was a lightweight bout between Masvidal and Yves Edwards, 30, of Conroe, Montgomery County, Texas, USA.

The referee stopped the fight after 2 minutes and 59 seconds in the second round. Masvidal knocked out Edwards via head kick.

Knocking out Edwards improved Masvidal’s professional MMA record to 11 wins and 2 losses. It was the Miami resident’s first BodogFIGHT win via knockout.

On the other hand, Edwards now has 31 wins, 13 losses and 1 draw. The fighter from Conroe made his professional MMA debut on October 26, 1997.

Born in Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas, Edwards moved to Texas in 1990. He competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship from 2001 to 2006.

Born and raised in Miami, Masvidal attended St. Brendan High School in Westchester, Miami-Dade County. While in high school, he competed in wrestling but he failed to stay eligible because of his grades.

Masvidal is 5’11” tall. He is a former lightweight.

On May 24, 2003, Masvidal made his professional MMA debut. On June 24, 2006, he was crowned the new Absolute Fighting Championship Welterweight Champion in Boca Raton, Palm Beach County, Florida.

On August 22, 2006, Masvidal made his BodogFIGHT debut in San Jose, Costa Rica where he defeated Keith Wisniewski. Masvidal’s second bout in the promotion was on December 15, 2006 in Saint Petersburg, Russia where he defeated Steve Berger.
