Pádraig Harrington of Ireland won the the 136th edition of The Open Championship. This is the first time the Irish golfer won the tournament also known as the British Open.

The prize fund was £4,200,000. As the champion, Harrington received £750,000.

Runner-up to Harrington was Sergio Garcia of Spain, who received £450,000. Andres Romero of Argentina finished third and received £290,000.

Harrington is 6’1″ tall. Born in Dublin, Ireland, he turned 35 on August 31, 2006.
