Jorge Masvidal, 23, of Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States was one of the winners at “Strikeforce: At the Dome“. It was second victory in the mixed martial arts promotion based in San Jose, Santa Clara County, California, USA.

Featuring 10 MMA matches, “Strikeforce: At the Dome” was held at Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington, USA on February 23, 2008. In the co-main event, Masvidal fought Ryan Healy, 25, of Portland, Oregon, USA in the lightweight division.

Charlie Pearson served as the referee. After three 5-minute rounds, he raised the hand of Masvidal, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

The victory improved Masvidal’s professional MMA record to 14 wins and 2 losses. On the other hand, Healy now has 14wins, 4 losses and 1 draw.

Healy made his professional MMA debut on March 16, 2002. He previously competed in Full Contact Fighting Federation, Ultimate Ring Challenge and World Extreme Cagefighting, among others.

Born and raised in Miami, Masvidal attended St. Brendan High School in Westchester, Miami-Dade County. While in high school, he competed in wrestling but he failed to stay eligible because of his grades.

Masvidal, who is 5’11” tall, is a former welterweight. He previously competed in Absolute Fighting Championship, BodogFIGHT and Crazy Horse Fights.

On May 24, 2003, Masvidal made his professional MMA debut. On June 24, 2006, he was crowned the new AFC Welterweight Champion in Boca Raton, Palm Beach County, Florida.
