Jorge Masvidal, 23, of Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States has made his World Victory Road debut. Founded in 2007 and based in Tokyo, Japan, the mixed martial arts promotion promotes the Sengoku Raiden Championship.

Featuring eight MMA matches, “World Victory Road Presents: Sengoku 3” was held at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan on June 8, 2008. The second match was a lightweight bout between Masvidal and Rodrigo Damm, 28, of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Tomoki Matsumiya served as the referee. He stopped the fight after 4 minutes and 38 seconds in the second round when Damm defeated Masvidal via technical knockout via punch.

Losing to Damm downgraded Masvidal’s professional MMA record to 14 wins and 3 losses. It was the Miami resident’s first professional MMA fight in Japan.

On the other hand, Damm now has 8 wins and 1 loss. He made his professional MMA debut on October 23, 2004.

Born and raised in Miami, Masvidal attended St. Brendan High School in Westchester, Miami-Dade County. While in high school, he competed in wrestling but he failed to stay eligible because of his grades.

On May 24, 2003, Masvidal made his professional MMA debut. He is 5’11” tall and he is a former welterweight.

Masvidal previously competed in Absolute Fighting Championship, BodogFIGHT and Crazy Horse Fights. On June 24, 2006, he was crowned the AFC Welterweight Champion in Boca Raton, Palm Beach County, Florida.
