Dublin, Ireland native Pádraig Harrington won the 136th edition of the Open Championship in Angus, Scotland, United Kingdom on July 22, 2007. It was the first time he won the golf tournament also known as the British Open.

On July 20, 2008, Harrington won the 137th edition of the tournament in Southport, England, U.K. He won £750,000.

Runner-up to Harrington was Ian Poulter of England. The latter received £450,000.

Greg Norman of Australia and Henrik Stenson of Sweden tied for third. They each won £255,000.

In April 2008, Harrington competed at the 2008 Masters Tournament in August, Georgia, United States, which was won by Trevor Immelman of South Africa. The Irish golfer tied for fifth along with Steve Flesch and Phil Mickelson, both of the U.S.

Harrington is 6’1″ tall. On August 31, 200, he will turn 37.

Raised in Rathfarnham, Leinster, Ireland, Harrington attended Coláiste Éanna in Ballyroad, Dublin. He made his professional golf debut in 1995 and married his childhood sweetheart Caroline Harrington in 1997.
