Miss Bhutan 2008 Tsokye Tsomo Karchung crowned in Thimphu

Born in Thimphu, Bhutan, Tsokye Tsomo Karchung turned 24 on August 20, 2008. Three weeks later, she won the inaugural edition of Miss Bhutan.

Tsokye is 5’8″ tall. As Miss Bhutan 2008, she will represent her home country in the eighth edition of Miss Earth.

The reigning Miss Earth 2007 is Jessica Trisko of Canada. Like Tsokye, the Canadian beauty queen turned 24 on August 20, 2008.

On November 9, 2008, Trisko will crown her successor at the Clark Expo Amphitheater in Angeles City, Philippines. Including Tsokye, more than 80 candidates will compete for the title.

This is the first time Bhutan will be represented in Miss Earth. Based in Metro Manila, Philippines, the international beauty pageant started in 2001 and it is known for advocating for environmental awareness.
