The fifth match was a featherweight bout between Striegl and Andy Jewett. The referee was Jason Herzog.
After 1 minute and 17 seconds in the second round, Herzog stopped the featherweight contest. Striegl submitted Jewett via rear-naked choke.
The loss downgraded Jewett’s professional MMA record to 3 wins and 3 losses. He made his professional MMA debut on April 27, 2007.
The fourth bout at “Total Combat 34” was between Arthur Fulber and Zebulon Beatty. The former submitted the latter after 2 minutes and 57 seconds in the second round.
Fulber trains at the Alliance MMA Gym in San Diego. The gym was founded by Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Brandon Vera in 2007.
Vera and his fellow UFC fighter Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira cornered Fulber at “Total Combat 34”. Vera has been competing in the UFC since 2005 while Nogueira made his UFC debut in 2007.
Both Vera and Striegl are of Filipino descent. The former was born to a Filipino father and an Italian mother in Norfolk, Virginia, USA while the latter was born to an American father and a Filipino mother in Tokyo, Japan.
