Born in Bettendorf, Scott County, Iowa, United States, Katherine Anna “Katie” Connors graduated from Assumption High School in Davenport, Scott County in 2007. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Scott Community College in Bettendorf.

On December 13, 2009, Connors won Miss Iowa USA 2010. She was unplaced when she represented Iowa at Miss USA 2010 and competed against 50 other candidates at the Planet Hollywood Theatre for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on May 16, 2010.
Months after the national beauty pageant, the crowd in a Major League Baseball game booed Washington Nationals pitcher Miguel Batista as he walked onto the field. He was a replacement for Stephen Strasburg, who was injured.
“Imagine if you go to see Miss Universe then you end up having to watch Miss Iowa,” Batista said after the game. “You might get those kind of boos.”
As the reigning Miss Iowa USA 2010, Connors responded to the joke. She said, “I know I can throw a pitch or two. The question is, ‘Can Miguel Batista walk the runway in a swimsuit?'”
On July 30, 2010, Connors threw a ceremonial pitch at an MLB game at Nationals Park in the Navy Yard, Washington, D.C., USA. Batista sent her flowers and was invited to serve as a Miss Iowa USA 2011 judge.
On May 31, 2010, Connors turned 21. On October 24, 2010, she crowned Rebecca Goldsmith in Ames as the next Miss Iowa USA.
