Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 19, of Albrightsville, Carbon County, Pennsylvania, United States struggled with drug addiction. He recently exited a rehab center and rejoined his family in Albrightsville.
Kohberger is one of the three children of maintenance worker Michael Francis Kohberger Jr., 59, and substitute teacher MaryAnn Racquel Kohberger, 54. Michael and MaryAnn have two daughters namely Amanda Marie Kohberger, 26, and Melissa Anne Kohberger, 22.
In 2003, MaryAnn started working for the Pleasant Valley School District in Brodheadsville, Monroe County as a paraprofessional, teaching pupils under the supervision of qualified instructors. In 2007, Michael started working for the school district as a maintenance worker.
In 2010, Michael and MaryAnn filed for bankruptcy. Amanda played Lori in “Two Days Back“, a horror film released in the U.S. on November 18, 2011.
Growing up, Bryan was overweight and was bulled by other children. In 2013, he graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in Brodheadsville.
On February 8, 2014, Bryan allegedly stole Melissa’s iPhone, which is approximately worth $400. He allegedly paid a friend $20 to pick him up and take him to a mall then went to an automated kiosk for used electronics where he sold the iPhone for $200.
After Michael learned Bryan had taken Melissa’s iPhone, the son allegedly warned his father not to do anything stupid. Michael reported the incident to police.
Bryan was arrested. The Pleasant Valley High School alumnus was charged with misdemeanor theft.
