“Mugen” Mark Striegl, 26, of Baguio City, Philippines was one of the winners at “ONE: Valor of Champions“. It marked the American-Filipino mixed martial artist’s first ONE Championship victory.
Featuring eight MMA matches, “ONE: Valor of Champions” was held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 24, 2015. In the co-main event of the evening, Striegl fought Casey Suire, 38, of Lafayette, Louisiana, United States in the bantamweight division.
Joey Lepiten served as the referee of the bantamweight contest. He stopped the fight after 3 minutes and 48 seconds in the first round when Striegl submitted Suire via rear-naked choke.
The loss downgraded Suire’s professional MMA record to 5 wins and 1 loss. It was his third ONE Championship bout.
On the other hand, Striegl now has 14 wins and 1 loss. He made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Valor of Champions”.
A total of eight countries were represented at “ONE: Valor of Champions” namely Brazil, China, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and the U.S. Suire was one of the two fighters from the U.S. and Striegl was one of the five fighters representing the host country.
Born in Tokyo, Japan to an American father and a Filipino mother, Striegl attended the University of San Diego and Point Loma Nazarene University, which are both in San Diego, California, USA. He made his professional MMA debut on July 25, 2009 in San Diego and has been a resident of Baguio City since 2011.
