Mirta Laura Kuštan of Krapinske Toplice, Croatia was 22 years old when she represented Croatia in the 64th edition of Miss Universe. The coronation ceremony was held at The AXIS in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
Including Kuštan, a total of 80 candidates competed for the Miss Universe 2015 title. It was Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines who won the title while the Croatian representative was unplaced.
It was not Kuštan who won the Miss Universe Croatia 2015 title. She was second runner-up to Barbara Ljiljak of Split, Croatia.
Ljiljak and Kuštan competed for the title against 17 other candidates at the Crystal Ballroom of The Westin Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia on June 7, 2015. Runner-up to Ljiljak was Alma Fabulić of Zadar, Croatia.
Because of an arm injury, Ljiljak was not able to compete at Miss Universe 2015. Fabulić was not available so Kuštan was sent as Croatia’s representative.
Despite this, Ljiljak was not dethroned. On April 15, 2016, she went back to The Westin Zagreb and crowned Barbara Filipovic as the next Miss Universe Croatia.
Born in Zagreb, Filipovic will turn 19 on May 31, 2016. She will represent Croatia in the 65th edition of Miss Universe.
