Las Piñas is one of the 16 cities in Metro Manila, Philippines. The others are Caloocan, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Manila, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig and Valenzuela.

Mark Aguilar Villar has been the congressman of Las Piñas since June 30, 2010. Born in the city to Manuel “Manny” Bamba Villar Jr. and Cynthia Ampaya Aguilar Villar, Mark turned 37 on August 14, 2015.

Established in 1990, Southville International School and Colleges is located in Las Piñas. The city is also home to the Bloomfield Academy Center for Science and Technology, Centro Escolar Las Piñas and the Saint Francis of Assisi College.

On May 19, 2013, Karla Patricia Alas represented Las Piñas at Miss Philippines Earth 2013 and competed against 46 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. She was unplaced.

On May 11, 2014, Mary Laverlyn Naluz represented Las Piñas at Miss Philippines Earth 2014 and competed against 48 other candidates at the same venue. She was unplaced.
