Barbara Filipović is a Croatian model born in Zagreb, Croatia. She is 5’912” tall and she speaks English and Croatian.

Zagreb is the capital of Croatia, which currently has two Miss Universe placements. Representing the European country, Sarah Ćosić finished in the Top 15 in 2009 and Elizabeta Burg finished in the Top 16 in 2012.

Miss Universe Croatia 2016

Filipović graduated from V. Gimnazija (The Fifth Gymnasium) in Zagreb. On April 15, 2016, she won Miss Universe Croatia 2016 at the Crystal Ballroom of The Westin Hotel in Zagreb.

Runner-up to Filipović was Paula Čaić of Vukovar, Croatia and the second runner-up was Marija Kljajic of Slavonski Brod. A total of 20 candidates competed for the title.

On May 31, 2016, Filipović turned 19. On January 25, 2017, Lille, France native Iris Mittenaere turned 24.

On January 30, 2017, Filipović represented Croatia at Miss Universe 2016 and competed against 85 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. She was unplaced and the title was won by Mittenaere, who represented France.

Miss Universe Croatia 2017

On April 28, 2017, Filipović will crown her successor at the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel in Zagreb. It is the 21st edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Croatia’s Miss Universe candidate.
