Filipino boxing legend Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is set to battle it out with his Australian opponent Jeff “The Hornet” Horn at “Battle of Brisbane” on July 2, Sunday, at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It will be a boxing match for the WBO welterweight championship.

Many boxing fans are wondering who Pacquiao’s opponent is. Here are 10 things about the Australian boxer:

  1. He was born on Feb. 4, 1988 in Brisbane.
  2. He stands 5’9” or 175 cm.
  3. As an amateur light welterweight boxer, he represented Australia at the 2012 Olympics. He reached the quarter-finals losing to Denys Berinchyk of Ukraine after defeating Gilbert Choombe of Zambia and Abderrazak Houya of Tunisia.
  4. He has seven professional titles under his belt namely Australian National Welterweight Title, WBO Oriental Welterweight Title, WBO Intercontinental Welterweight Title, Pan Asian Boxing Association Welterweight Title, WBA Pan African Welterweight Title, interim WBA Oceania Welterweight Title and IBF Intercontinental Welterweight Title.
  5. As a professional fighter he has a record of 16 wins, 0 loss and 1 draw. Among his wins, 11 were via knockout and five were via decision. He has not fought as a professional fighter outside Australia and New Zealand.
  6. He graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Education degree on Health and Physical Education/Fitness.
  7. He worked as a physical education teacher to Grade 4 and 5 students at Pallara State School, along with actress Jo Christiaans, and as a supply teacher at Brisbane State High School.
  8. He has been married to his childhood sweetheart Joanna Horn since 2014. When they were young, he once told her about being beaten up by school bullies.
  9. He played soccer for 12 years for the Lions and Acacia Ridge.
  10. His paternal grandfather Ray Horn put on exhibition boxing matches in outback Queensland during the 1930s.
  11. His father Jeff Horn Sr., cousin of Brisbane lord mayor Graham Quirk, is a builder while his mother Leasa Dykstra works for the emergency relief department of Saint Vincent de Paul Society.
  12. His trainer is Brisbane investment manager Glenn Rushton.
