Four young Cordillerans are competing at the 2017 International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) Muaythai World Youth Championship. The international martial arts event will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from August 1-11, 2017.
Rosemarie Recto, 17, was a gold medalist in the 2017 Muaythai National Open both in the first leg held from March 3-5, 2017 in Baguio City, Philippines and in the second leg held in Paranaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines from May 19-21, 2017. She fights at 51kg.
Liane Benito, 15, was a gold medalist in the first leg of the 2017 Muaythai National Open. She fights at 45kg.
Kurt Lubrica, 17, was a gold medalist in the second leg of the 2017 Muaythai National Open. He fights at 48kg.



The youngest among the four Cordillerans competing in the 2017 IFMA Muaythai World Youth Championship is Mariah Co. She is only 13 years old.
Recently, Recto, Benito, Lubrica and Co paid a courtesy call at the office of Baguio City Councilor Michael Lawana, who is also the president of Liga ng mga Barangay of Baguio City and one of the supporters of Muaythai Team Baguio. The young fighters were accompanied by Muaythai Association of the Philippines-Baguio City Chapter Chairman Joeseph Oloan and coaches Brent Velasco and Bryan Olod.
