Reigning URCC light heavyweight and middleweight champion Chris Hofmann had a victorious 2016. The Filipino-Swiss MMA fighter defeated Caloy Baduria and John Adajar both via technical knockout last year.

On April 23, 2016, Hofmann won the URCC light heavyweight title against Baduria at “URCC 27: Rebellion.” On Nov. 6, 2016, Hofmann made history as a two-division champion after defeating Adajar at “URCC 28: Vindication” for the then vacant URCC middleweight title.

On Jan. 7, Hofmann successfully defended his middleweight title against David Douglas at “URCC 29: Conquest.” The match took place at the Kezat Pavillion in San Francisco, California.

Both Hofmann and Adajar are returning to the URCC cage at “URCC: XXX.” During the press conference on July 25 at Winford Hotel and Casino in Manila, Adajar implied that he was not given enough time to prepare for “URCC 28: Vindication” so he wanted a rematch with Hofmann.

The two-division URCC champion was quick to clarify that Adajar had enough time to prepare for their fight at “URCC 28: Vindication.” The former told the latter, “I whooped your ass.”

In addition, Hofmann emphasized that there was nothing lucky about defeating Adajar in 2016. When asked who he would pick given the chance to choose his opponent, Hofmann simply said, “Someone challenging.”

On Aug. 12, Saturday, Hofmann’s fight against Robert Sothmann is the main event of “URCC: XXX.” This is will be the second time Hofmann is defending his URCC middleweight title.

Adajar, on the other hand, will battle it out with Jet Hermida. Currently, Adajar holds a record of 1 win and 1 loss while his opponent has 1 win.

As for Hofmann, his current record is 5 wins and 1 loss. His first and only loss was from his MMA debut on Dec. 21, 2013 at “Rebel FC 1: Into the Lion’s Den,” where he lost to Doo Hwan Kim.

Sothmann holds a record of 3 wins and 4 losses. He won his most recent fight on April 29 and “URCC: XXX” will be his first URCC fight.

“URCC: XXX” will be held at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila. Watch a clip featuring Hofmann during the press conference for the upcoming fight here:
