Kevin “Oldboy” Chung, 24, of Washington, D.C., United States is in Metro Manila, Philippines for his second ONE Championship fight. After defeating Zhong Qingya at “ONE Championship: Light of a Nation” on June 30, 2017, the undefeated Korean-American mixed martial artist will face Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 32, of Ifugao, Philippines.

On November 10, 2017, Chung and Belingon will battle it out in the bantamweight division in the main card of “ONE: Legends of the World” at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila. Their match will be the main card fight before the two main events.

On November 7, 2017, I had a short interview with Chung during the press conference for “ONE: Legends of the World” at City of Dreams Manila in Parañaque, Metro Manila. I asked Chung how much he knew about Belingon as a fighter.

“I saw Kevin Belingon fight live many, many years back when ONE Championship was called ONE FC,” Chung said. “I instantly became a fan. I’m a fan of his.”

Chung believes that his striking is on par with that of Belingon, whom he described as a “good striker” and a “talented guy.”  The former described himself as an explosive fighter using good technique.

“I believe my conditioning is better,” Chung said when asked to compare himself to Belingon. “I believe I’m a well-rounded fighter.”

Whether the fight against Belingon ends in Round 1 or reaches Round 3, Chung is confident that he is ready for all of it. With this confidence, the Korean-American fighter has some advice to his Filipino opponent.

“I hope he allocates his energy wisely,” Chung said of Belingon. “Because if not, you know, he’s gonna be gassing and I’m gonna take advantage of it.”

Chung holds a professional MMA record of 5 wins and 0 loss. He was born in Washington, D.C. to Korean parents.

Belingon has 16 wins and 5 losses. He trains at Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines.
