A send-off party for Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann and Reina Hispoamericana Filipinas 2017 Winwyn Marquez was held at Annabel’s in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on October 18, 2017. The latter was crowned Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia on November 4, 2017.
With Marquez’s recent victory, the pressure is on Lehmann, who will represent the Philippines at Miss World 2017 on November 18, 2017 in Sanya, China. During the send-off party, I tested Lehmann’s readiness to handle the question-and-answer portion by asking her five random questions.
It appears that Filipino fans have no reason to be nervous as Lehmann is ready to compete for the second Miss World crown for the Philippines. Here is my short Q and A test with Miss World Philippines 2017:
CONAN ALTATIS: What’s the best way to achieve world peace?
LAURA LEHMANN: The best way to achieve world peace is communication, and communication in a sense that you’re not just speaking but also listening. I think when you listen, you understand what people have to say and you understand what people feel and you’ll have more empathy and everyone will be happier because of it.
CA: How should the world deal with North Korea?
LL: Well, I think that I know that as a beauty queen, I’m not a politician so I wouldn’t know how to deal with it politically. But I think the best way to deal with it is to just to spread good values, you know, values of acceptance and tolerance because I think that when you’re friendly to each other no matter where you’re from, when you’re from North Korea or South Korea, then everyone will just be happier.
CA: Should transgender women be allowed to join Miss World?
LL: I don’t see any problem with it. I think that if someone wants to be a woman, if they feel more beautiful in that form, in that shape, then I don’t see any reason why they can’t join pageants. They’re just as good as us.
CA: In 2017, do you think men and women are treated equally?
LL: I think that we’re treated better, or more equally than we were in the past. But I think that there’s also room for improvement, especially in developing countries so I would like to see improvements and hopefully, we’ll get to that place where everything is equal.
CA: What is the greatest contribution of the Philippines to the world?
LL: The greatest contribution of the Philippines to the world is our people because no matter where in the world you are, you’ll always find Filipinos. No matter if you’re in the States or you’re in Europe, you’re in Asia, if you’re in Australia, you’ll always find Filipinos and they help out and they make everyone stay brighter and they treat you like family. They’re always so warm and inviting and happy no matter what troubles hit their way. It doesn’t matter if it’s typhoon or if they’re separated from their family, they’re always very happy and they teach other people to be happy, too.
