South Korean model Jenny Kim, 23, was named Miss Supranational 2017 on Dec. 1, Friday, at Miejski Osrodek Sportu i Rekreacji in Krynica-Zdrój, Poland besting 67 other candidates from around the world. She was crowned as the successor of Miss Supranational 2016 Srinidhi Shetty of India.
Runner-up to Kim as Miss Supranational 2017 is Miss Colombia Martha Martinez. The respective second, third and fourth runners-up are Miss Romania Bianca Tirsin, Miss Ethiopia Bitaniya Josef and Miss Puerto Rico Larissa Santiago.
In 2015, Kim competed at Miss World Korea and finished as first runner-up. In 2016, she was appointed by Miss Universe Korea national director Park Jeong Ah as Miss Universe Korea.
On Dec. 9, 2016, Kim was one of the 11 contestants from Asia Pacific who attended the Miss Universe 2016 kick-off party at Conrad Manila in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. On Jan. 18, she was also among the candidates who visited Baguio City along with Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
Kim did not place at Miss Universe 2016. However, among 85 other candidates, she was the one voted as Miss Friendship.
Currently, Kim is a student at Ewha Womans University, a private women’s university in Seoul and the largest female educational institute in the world. While double majoring in international office administration and English language and literature her home country, she is also volunteering as an interpreter at the National Museum of Indonesia in Jakarta, Indonesia.
During the final question-and-answer portion at Miss Supranational 2017, she answered the question from Mister Supranational-Netherlands 2017 Ferdi Caglayan, 22, in English fluently. Asked what she would do if she had $1 million, she said she would put up a school for children.
