In November, 49 men representing different countries and territories were in Kaohsiung, Taiwan to compete for the Mister Ocean 2017 title. Only one of them was given the honor to be the first titleholder of the inaugural male beauty pageant.
Among the 49 Mister Ocean 2017 candidates, the latest one to arrive in Taiwan was Mister North Cyprus Ahmet Gargi. The 21-year-old university student had to take a master exam on Nov. 19 so he arrived on Nov. 21 and the coronation night took place on Nov. 24.
In a short period of time, the Mister Ocean 2017 candidates and the team of Golden International Corporation Head and President Christine Huang spent “a great and unforgettable time together,” Gargi said in a statement exclusively obtained by Conan Daily. In particular, he said “the bus trips were very enjoyable.”
Gargi is a student at Near East University, a private university in North Nicosia, Northern Cyprus. He is studying Food Engineering.
On Gargi’s first day at Mister Ocean 2017, he said he was greeted warmly at the gate of the hotel where the candidates were billeted. During the camp period, the candidates he considered his closest friends were Mister Latvia Ivo Lesnieks, Mister Canada Benjamin Quinn Wills, Mister Australia Memphis James and Mister Cote d’Ivoire Paul-abraham Kobieni.
For Gargi, the people he met at Mister Ocean 2017 are “really kindhearted men.” He is very thankful to all of his new friends and the pageant directors for being a part of his life and giving him unforgettable memories.
“I could say that we, as the first contestants of Mr. Ocean, had great bonding,” Gargi ended. “Now, I have 48 brothers all over the world. Thank you for everything, Mister Ocean. Thank you, Taiwan.”
After making it to the semi-finals, Gargi was not able to proceed to the Top 5 during the coronation night. It was Mister Bosnia and Herzegovina Ermin Poturak who was given the honor to hold the very first Mister Ocean title.
