Detroit, Michigan, United States is home to top rappers Marshall Bruce “Eminem” Mathers III, Sean Michael Leonard “Big Sean” Anderson and Deja “Dej Loaf” Trimble. On December 2, 2017, the city was graced by Ultimate Fighting Championship stars Jerome-Max “Max” Kelii Holloway, 25, and José Aldo da Silva Oliveira Junior, 31, who is professionally known as Jose Aldo.

For the second time around, the two mixed martial artists battled it out in the UFC cage. Their rematch was the main event of “UFC 218” at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. In the same venue, where Eminem performed “Lose Yourself” on October 17, 2017 to open the first 2017-2018 National Basketball Association regular season game, which was between the Detroit Pistons and the Charlotte Hornets.

The first time Holloway and Aldo faced each other in the UFC cage was on June 3, 2017 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at “UFC 212.” Holloway, who was the interim UFC Featherweight Champion at the time, defeated Aldo via technical knockout via punches.

Like the first match in Brazil, Holloway and Aldo’s rematch in Michigan lasted for three rounds. The former successfully defended his title via knockout.

After defeating Aldo in two consecutive UFC Featherweight Championship bouts, Holloway now has a record of 18 wins and 3 losses. The only three fighters he failed to defeat were Dustin Poirier, Dennis Bermudez and the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, 29.

Along with Holloway and Luciano Azevedo, McGregor is also one of the only three fighters who defeated Aldo. After “UFC 218,” Aldo’s record was downgraded to 26 wins and 4 losses.

Aldo lost to McGregor at “UFC 194” via knockout via punch at 0:13 of Round 1. The bout took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 12, 2015.

On the other hand, Holloway lost to McGregor at “UFC Fight Night 34” on August 17, 2013 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The Irish MMA fighter won via technical knockout via punches.

Joining Holloway on the winning side at “UFC 218” were  Francis Ngannou, Henry Cejudo, Eddie Alvarez and Tecia Torres in the main card. The winners in the preliminary card were Paul Fedder, Yancy Medeiros, David Teylur, Felice Herrig, Amanda Bobby Cooper, Abdul Razak Alhassan, Dominick Reyes and Justin Willis.
