Taiwan is one place that Ermin Poturak, 22, of Bosnia and Herzegovina will never forget. It is in this state in East Asia where he won Mister Ocean 2017 representing his home country.
Poturak is a sports and physical education student at the University of Sarajevo in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He made his country proud by winning an international male beauty pageant and it all happened in Kaohsiung, a special municipality facing the Taiwan Strait.
“Taiwan is a country I really enjoyed exploring,” Poturak said in a statement obtained by CONAN Daily. “The nature there is just gorgeous and the food is delicious.”
One of the things Poturak really liked during his stay in Taiwan for the Mister Ocean 2017 competition was the view from Taipei 101. Owned by Taipei Financial Center Corporation, the building comprises five basement levels and 101 floors above ground.
Taipei 101 is the largest and highest-use green building in the world. From its completion in 2004, it was declared the world’s tallest building until 2008 when Dubai built Burj Khalifa, which has two below-ground parking levels and 163 floors above ground.
Aside from Taipei 101, Taiwan does have many things to offer. It may be geographically small but it is packed with things that tourists will enjoy and Poturak can attest to that.
“We explored some of the many temples,” Poturak said. “There are so many amazing things we have seen there. It is just something you have to experience. I love their culture, people, amazing nature and food.”
“This is for sure an experience I will never forget,” Porturak said of his Mister Ocean 2017 journey. He said his most memorable experience from the competition was when won the title of the inaugural male beauty pageant on Nov. 24 besting 48 other candidates from all over the world.
Aside from winning the Mister Ocean 2017 title, Poturak also won the Mister Photogenic award. Mister Montenegro Marko Rogac was first runner-up to him as Mister Ocean 2017 and as Mister Photogenic.
While in Taiwan, Poturak spent most of his time with Rogac as well as Mister Macedonia Goran Mishoski, Mister Serbia Marko Markovic, Mister Nigeria Ayoola Femi-Ogun Olatunde and Mister Republic of Congo Dylan Rouffet. The representative from Bosnia and Herzegovina added, “But if I had to choose one of these people, that would be my friend from Serbia for sure.”
“We supported each other throughout the whole competition,” Poturak said of Markovic. For the reigning Mister Ocean 2017, one of the best things about competition was meeting a lot of people of different nationalities.
“This was an amazing experience and I’m thankful for every second of it,” Poturak concluded. “I’ve seen a lot of great things in Taiwan, met a lot of amazing people, learned about different cultures.”
