Shawn Mendes, 19, and John Mayer, 40, are not dating but they are proudly showing people how close they are. Recently, their public display of affection was made available on Instagram Live for their millions of fans to see.
Currently, both Mendes and Mayer are on their respective tours. The former is in Dallas, Texas, United Staes while the latter is in Australia.
On December 4, 2017, Mayer was doing an Instagram Live video from Dallas when Mendes popped in to join the discussion from Down Under. The latter said before going home in Canada, he will finish more shows in Australia.
Mayer then asked Mendes if he is set to tour in 2018. The Canadian singer replied, “No, actually, I’m going to be doing my first festival run. (I’m) trying to grow up a little bit.”
By festival run, Mendes meant he will be playing festivals in 2018 instead of just touring as a headline act. His current tour, the “Illuminate World Tour,” will end on December 18, 2017 in Tokyo, Japan.
“Listen, I’m 40 years old and I need to grow up a little bit,” Mayer told Mendes. “There’s a good case to be made for me not making another record until I meet someone and I can start writing about love.”
Mayer has not been romantically involved with anyone after he and Katy Perry broke up in 2016. The “Your Body is a Wonderland” singer also once dated Taylor Swift, who is known as Perry’s nemesis.
Like Mayer, Mendes is currently single. When asked about the quality he looks for in a potential lover at the 2017 American Music Awards, the “Treat You Better” said humor is his “number one thing.”
