Anne Christine Dunn of Fiji won Miss Pacific Islands 2016 at Gym 1 in Tuanaimato, Apia, Samoa on December 2, 2016. Seven candidates competed for the title.
On December 9, 2017, Dunn crowned her successor Matauaina Gwendolyn To’omalatai of American Samoa at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi, Fiji. Nine candidates competed for the title.

Juliette Caroline Spencer of American Samoa won the inaugural edition of Miss South Pacific, which was founded by the government of Samoa in 1987. In 2013, Teuira Napa of the Cook Islands won the title, making her the last Miss South Pacific, which was later renamed Miss Pacific Islands.
On December 19, 2014, Alofa Dawn Latafale Auva’a of Samoa won Miss Pacific Islands 2014 at Gym 1 in Tuanaimato. On December 12, 2015, she crowned her successor Abigail Havora of Papua New Guinea at the National Auditorium in Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
