It was a redemptive win for Rika “Tinydoll” Ishige of Thailand. The Thai-Japanese fighter defeated her Filipino opponent Rome “The Rebel” Trinidad at “ONE: Warriors of the World” on Dec. 9, Saturday, at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
“ONE: Warriors of the World” marked Trinidad’s debut as a professional MMA fighter and as a ONE Championship fighter. She lost to Ishige via rear-naked choke in the second round.
Trinidad is Ishige’s second Filipino opponent ever. Before “ONE: Warriors of the World,” the Thai-Japanese fighter lost at “ONE: Kings and Conquerors” to Jomary Torres, who hails from Zamboanga, Philippines.
After defeating Trinidad, Ishige now has 3 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Trinidad has yet to win as a professional MMA fighter although she defeated her fellow Filipino fighter Maan Havillagon in an amateur bout before making her ONE Championship debut.
It was on March 11 when Ishige made her ONE Championship debut. Her match with Audreylara “Ice Comet” Boniface Raphael of Malaysia lasted for 4 minutes and 32 seconds in the first round.
Raphael lost to Ishige via technical knockout via punches. In Ishige’s next fight, she won via rear-naked choke submission.
Coming from a successful ONE Championship debut, Ishige returned to the cage on May 26. She submitted Nita Dea of Indonesia at 2:39 of Round 1.
Ishige’s winning streak ended on Aug. 5 when she lost to her first Filipino opponent. Torres submitted Ishige via rear-naked choke at 1:58 of Round 1.
