Four months after “ONE: Total Victory,” ONE Championship is going back to Indonesia for another exciting event. Titled “ONE: Kings of Courage,” the 69th event of the promotion is scheduled on Jan. 20, 2018 at the Jakarta Convention Center.

So far, only the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship bout between Tiffany Teo of Singapore and Xiong Jing Nan of China has been confirmed to be in the “ONE: Kings of Courage” fight card. It would be interesting if this becomes a co-main event of another championship bout featuring a hometown fighter challenging a champion.

There is one Indonesian fighter who should be given a title shot in his hometown on Jan. 20, 2018 and he is the undefeated flyweight contender Stefer Rahardian. Hailing from Jakarta, he currently holds a record of 6 wins and 0 loss. and his most recent win was at “ONE: Total Victory,” which took place at the Jakarta Convention Center on Sept. 16.

“ONE: Total Victory” was headlined by former ONE Flyweight World Champion Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhtemov and Team Lakay fighter Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio of the Philippines. In the same event, Rahardian defeated Sim Bunsrun of Cambodia.

If Rahardian gets a title shot at “ONE: Kings of Courage,” he will have to face the reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes of Brazil. The Brazilian fighter is the first fighter to hold the title by defeating Eustaquio at “ONE: Rise of the Kingdom” in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Sept. 12, 2014.

On March 13, 2015, Moraes successfully defended the ONE Flyweight World Champion title for the first time by defeating Asuka Mikami at “ONE: Age of Champions” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. But on Nov. 21, 2015, the Brazilian fighter lost the belt to Akhtemov at “ONE: Dynasty of Champions” in Beijing, China.

After winning becoming the flyweight champion, however, Akhtemov had to go on hiatus because of a back injury while training in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In the meantime, Moraes became the interim champion of the division after defeating Tilek Batyrov at “ONE: Heroes of the World” in Macau, China, on Aug. 13, 2016.

Akhtemov returned into the ONE Championship cage on Aug. 5 and faced Moraes again to unify the flyweight titles. The latter won the rematch at “ONE: Kings and Conquerors” in Macau.

The most recent fight of Moraes took place on Nov. 10 in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. He successfully defended his flyweight champion belt by submitting Team Lakay fighter Danny “The King” Kingad of the Philippines in the first round at “ONE: Legends of the World.”

Rahardian and Kingad were the two fighters who maintained their undefeated record at “ONE: Kings of Destiny” on April 21 in Pasay City. Before facing Moraes “ONE: Legends of the World,” Kingad had 6 wins and 0 loss, the same record Rahardian is currently holding.

But if ONE Championship finds it too early for Rahardian to have a title shot, the promotion should pit the Indonesian fighter against Kingad at “ONE: Kings of Courage.” The winner would then be the next challenger of the reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion.

Aside from Rahardian, there are five other Indonesian fighters who are expected to be in the “ONE: Kings of Courage” fight card. They are Sunoto “The Terminator” Peringkat, Adrian “Papua Badboy” Matheis, Anthony “The Archangel” Engelen and Vincent Latoel.
