6 Asian ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ actors

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” hit theaters in the United States on December 15, 2017. Here are six Asian actors who are in the cast and their roles in the movie:

  1. Akshay Kumar as First Order Monitor

Born and raised in East London, Kumar trained at The Drama Centre London. On the small screen, he recently played Adil Joshi on “The Halcyon” and Aarav Chandekar on “The Indian Detective.”

Kumar is currently filming an adventure film titled “Shambhala.” He is the namesake of Canadian Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who is set to star in the 2018 films “Padman,” “2.0,” “Gold” and “Mogul.”

  1. Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico

In 2016, Tran starred in “XOXO” with Sarah Hyland, Brett DelBuono and Graham Phillips. Born in San Diego, California, to refugee-migrants from Vietnam, Tran went to San Diego State University.

  1. Veronica Ngo as Paige

Also known as NTV Virus, Ngo was born in Tra Vinh. In 2005, she made her movie debut by playing Tam in “Saigon Love Story.”

  1. Togo Igawa as Resistance Bridge Officer

Born in Tokyo, Japan, Igawa is the first Japanese actor to become a member of the Royal Shakespeare Compare in England. In 2018, he will star in “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” with Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfriend, Christine Baranski and Lily James.

  1. Liang Yang as a Praetorian guard

Yang was born in China. He has performed stunts in several Hollywood films including “Transformers: The Last Knight,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation,” “Kingsman: The Secret Service” and “Skyfall.”

  1. Clem So as a Canto Bight Casino patron

Born in Liverpool, England, So is best known for playing Tong in “Exodus to Shanghai.” He is of Chinese descent.
