Since joining ONE Championship in 2015, Sotir Kichukov, 27, of Bulgaria has yet to get the win in the cage. It is his mission to achieve his inaugural triumph under the promotion on January 26, 2018 as he faces Hao Bin “The Southern Eagle” Ma, 24, at “ONE: Global Superheroes.”
Kichukov is a ONE Championship flyweight contender and former Max Bantamweight Champion. Representing Saigon Sports Club, he made his promotional debut on September 27, 2015 when he lost via arm-triangle choke to Yusup “Maestro” Saadulaev, 32, at “ONE: Odyssey of Champions” in Indonesia.
On December 2, 2016, Kichukov returned into the ONE Championship cage and faced Filipino-American fighter Mark “Mugen” Striegl, 29, at “ONE: Age of Domination.” The latter, who currently resides in Baguio City, Philippines, won via unanimous decision.
Currently, Kichukov lives and trains out of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. His next opponent is a Chinese national freestyle wrestling champion.
Ma is unbeaten inside the ONE Championship cage. Making his professional debut in 2016, he took home the “ONE: Dynasty of Champions” (Changsha) Flyweight Tournament Championship, defeating Wu Ting Shen, 22, and Bu Huo You Ga, 25, in a single evening of action.
Since then, Ma has strung together an impressive 7-1 professional record, which includes four wins by submission and one by knockout. In his last bout, he needed just one round to force Eugene Toquero, 36, to tap from an armbar.
“ONE: Global Superheroes” will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It will be headlined by Striegl’s fellow Baguio City resident Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 28, and Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhtemov, 30, of Kazakhstan.
