Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly, 33, is one of the three Team Lakay fighters in the fight card of “ONE: Global Superheroes.” He is set to face undefeated Cambodian martial artist Meas Meul, 27, in the featherweight division.
Kelly is one of the brightest featherweight prospects to emerge from the Philippines. With a complete striking and grappling skill set, he brings Team Lakay’s world-renowned wushu to centerstage as he looks to showcase his expertise inside the ONE Championship cage.
In 2016, Kelly won three bouts, all by spectacular finish, but in 2017, he lost to Emilio “The Honey Badger” Urrutia, 31, of the United States via unanimous decision. Currently, the Team Lakay fighter has 9 wins and 4 losses.
On the other hand, Meul has a professional record of 6-0. Hailing from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, he made his ONE Championship debut in 2014, submitting countryman Chan Heng via rear-naked choke.
Meul is a former KW 2 Champion. He is set to put his highly-regarded khun khmer offensive skills on full display when he takes on Kelly.
Scheduled on January 26, 2018 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines, “ONE: Global Superheroes” is the second ONE Championship event in 2018. It will be headlined by Kelly’s fellow Team Lakay fighter Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 28, and Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhtemov, 30, of Kazakhstan.
The other Team Lakay fighter in the “ONE: Global Superheroes” fight card is Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 22. Also in the fight card is Eric “The Natural” Kelly, 35, Edward’s elder brother who is from Baguio City but not a Team Lakay member.
