If home court advantage really plays a role in mixed martial arts, it is not something that intimidates Cambodian ONE Championship fighter Rin Saroth, 24. He is set to face Indonesian fighter Sunoto “The Terminator” Peringkat, 32, at “ONE: Kings of Courage” at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.
“This is going to be an action-packed bout from start to finish,” Saroth said during a press conference on January 18, 2018 at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta. “I would love to trade strikes against Sunoto and beat him in front of his hometown crowd.”
“Most of all, I am doing this because this is what I love,” Saroth added. “In martial arts, you always want to test yourself against the best and Sunoto is a great veteran that I can test my skills with. Thank you for the opportunity.”
Hailing from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Saroth is a former WK 3 Featherweight Tournament Finalist with a khun khmer record of 110-22-0. He made his ONE Championship debut in December 2015 at “ONE: Kingdom of Khmer,” winning by first-round armbar submission over Mission Ali.
“ONE: Kings of Courage” marks Peringkat’s return after a one-year hiatus. A former WKF Indonesia Champion, he representing IndoGym and Team Phantom.
Scheduled on January 20, 2018, “ONE: Kings of Courage” will be headlined by Jing Nan “The Panda” Xiong, 30, of China and Tiffany “No Chill” Teo, 28, of Singapore for the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight World Championship bout.
