‘ONE: Global Superheroes’ fight card: Team Lakay’s April Osenio vs undefeated Jomary Torres

April Osenio, 23, was the last fighter of the famed Team Lakay of Baguio City, Philippines to enter the ONE Championship cage in 2017. More than a month after her most recent bout, she is back and is set to face a fellow Filipino fighter.

Osenio will face Jomary Torres, 22, at “ONE: Global Superheroes” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. The two Filipino MMA heroines will battle it out in the atomweight division in the preliminary card.

“ONE: Global Superheroes” will be headlined by Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhtemov, 30, of Kazakhstan and Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 28, of the Philippines. Osenio and Eustaquio’s fellow Team Lakay fighters Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 22, and Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly, 33, are also in the fight card.

Currently, Osenio has 2 wins and 3 losses. She made her ONE Championship debut on March 13, 2017 at “ONE: Age of Champions” where she lost to Kirstie Gannaway, 27, of Singapore.

On April 15, 2016, Osenio redeemed herself with her first ONE Championship win. She submitted her fellow Filipino fighter Natalie “The Kilapino” Gonzales Hills, 29, via armbar at “ONE: Global Rivals.”

On September 2, 2016, Osenio won again at “ONE: Unbreakable Warriors.” She submitted Ann “Athena” Osman, 31, of Malaysia via guillotine choke.

But after defeating Hills and Osman, Osenio has yet to earn another win. She lost to Jenny Huang, 27, of Taiwan at “ONE: Age of Domination” on December 2, 2016 and to Xiong Jing Nang, 30, of China at “ONE: Warriors of the World” on December 9, 2017.

On the other hand, Torres is an undefeated fighter from Zamboanga del Norte. She currently holds a record of 3 wins and 0 loss.

Torres made her professional MMA debut on August 12, 2016 at “URCC: Dutdutan ‘16” where she defeated her fellow Filipino fighter Krisna Lindaga. On August 5, 2017, Torres made a successful ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Kings and Conquerors” by submitting Rika “Tiny Doll” Ishige, 28, of Thailand via rear-naked choke.

On November 3, 2017, Torres won at “ONE: Hero’s Dream” via unanimous decision over Nita Dea of Indonesia. Here is a clip from Torres and Ishige’s bout:
