ONE Championship, Global Citizen join forces to end extreme poverty by 2030

22 January 2018 – Manila, Philippines: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), held the official “ONE: Global Superheroes” kick-off press conference on January 22, 2018 at the Manila Grand Ballroom of the City of Dreams in Paranaque, Metro Manila, Philippines. In attendance were ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, Global Citizen co-founder and Managing Director Wei Soo, City of Dreams Manila Vice President for Gaming Operations Kevin Benning.

“We are thrilled to be joining forces with ONE Championship to bring Global Citizen to Asia,” Soo stated. “ONE Championship reaches millions of young people around the region and together we will engage them on issues that impact the entire world.”

“Since we launched Global Citizen in 2012, over 13 million actions have been taken,” the Global Citizen co-founder and Managing Director continued. He added that they are “excited to drive more actions and increase our impact for the world’s most marginalized people through this partnership.”

Global Citizen is headquartered in New York with offices in Canada, Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Its goal is to build the largest platform where people can learn about issues, take action on what matters most, and join a global movement working to end extreme poverty by 2030.

Since Global Citizen was founded in 2012, millions of Global Citizens around the world have taken over ten million actions. There were millions of emails, tweets, petition signatures, and phone calls targeting world leaders to end extreme poverty.

ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee and former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang were appointed as Global Citizen ambassadors. They attended the “ONE: Global Superheroes” kick-off press conference with Geje Eustaquio, Kairat Akhmetov, Joshua Pacio, Eric Kelly, Lan Ming Qiang and Rafael Nunes.

Eustaquio and Akhtemov will be competing for the ONE Interim Flyweight World Championship in the headline bout of “ONE: Global Superheroes,” which takes place on January 26, 2018 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. The strawweight bout between Pacio and Lan will be the co-main event while Kelly and Nunes will compete in the featherweight division in the main card.
