Hailing from Zamboanga, Philippines, Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres, 21, successfully made her ONE Championship debut in 2016. On January 26, 2018, she won her third bout under the promotion keeping her undefeated record with 4 wins and 0 loss.
Torres’s first professional mixed martial arts fight was against her fellow Filipino fighter Krisna Lindaga at “URCC- Dutdutan ’16” on August 12, 2016 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. After three five-minute rounds, Torres won the atomweight bout via unanimous decision.
When Torres fought her first ONE Championship bout at “ONE: Kings and Conquerors” on August 5, 2017, she immediately caught the attention of the international MMA community. She gave Thailand’s Rika “Tiny Doll” Ishige, 28, her first loss as a professional MMA fighter.
“ONE: Kings and Conquerors” took place at the Cotai Arena in Macau, China. The atomweight bout between Torres and Ishige was the seventh bout of the evening and it ended at 1:58 of Round 2 after the Filipino fighter submitted her Thai-Japanese opponent via rear-naked choke.
On November 3, 2017, Torres returned to the ONE Championship cage for another atomweight bout. She won at “ONE: Hero’s Dream” at the Thuwunna National Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar against Nita Dea of Indonesia via unanimous decision.
Just weeks before “ONE: Global Superheroes,” Torres was added in the fight card. She fought in the strawweight division for the first time with April Osenio of Team Lakay from Baguio City, Philippines as her opponent.
At “ONE: Global Superheroes,” the strawweight bout between Torres and Osenio lasted for 40 seconds only. The fighter from Zamboanga was declared the winner after knocking out the Team Lakay fighter via technical knockout via strikes in the first round.
It was Osenio’s third strawweight bout and fourth loss under ONE Championship. Her record downgraded to 2 wins and 4 losses.
