On January 23, 2016, Hao Bin “The Southern Eagle” Ma, 24, of China made his professional MMA debut under ONE Championship. Two years later, he won his sixth bout under the promotion.
Ma submitted his first two opponents via guillotine choke. He defeated his fellow Chinese fighters Wu Ting Shen and Huo You Ga Bu both at “ONE: Dynasty of Champions” in Hunan, China.
On June 29, 2016, Ma competed under the Chinese promotion Wu Lin Feng (WLF) for the first time. He had his first loss after tapping out in the first round at “WLF- E.P.I.C.: Elevation Power in Cage 5” and losing to Umidjon Musayev of Tajikistan via armbar submission.
After losing to Musayev, Ma redeemed himself and went on to enjoy a winning streak. He defeated his next WLF opponents Alexander Kolesnik of Russia and Orzu Tabarov of Tajikistan.
On November 19, 2016, Ma competed under Road Fighting Championship (Road FC) for the first time. He won against his Korean opponent Kim Hyo Ryeong, 32, via unanimous decision at “Road FC 34” in Hebei, China.
Before the Road FC bout, Ma won his third ONE Championship bout. On August 13, 2016, he won against his Cambodian opponent Chan Rothana, 31, at “ONE: Heroes of the World” in Cotai, Macao.
On September 2, 2017, Ma pulled off yet another win via submission inside the ONE Championship cage. He submitted his fellow Chinese fighter Hexi Getu at “ONE Championship: Shanghai” via guillotine choke.
On November 3, 2017, Ma also submitted his Filipino opponent Eugene Toquero, 36, via armbar at “ONE: Hero’s Dream” in Yangon, Myanmar. Their flyweight bout was the eighth match of the evening.
For the sixth time, Ma competed inside the ONE Championship cage at “ONE: Global Superheroes,” which took place in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. He knocked out his Bulgarian opponent Sotir Kichukov, 27, via punches.
While Ma’s record improved to 9 wins and 1 loss, Kichukov’s record downgraded to 13 wins and 7 losses. Watch a video of their flyweight fight here:
