Ev “E.T.” Ting, 28, of Malaysia and New Zealand and Ariel “Tarzan” Sexton, 36, of Costa Rica co-headlined the ONE Championship event “ONE: Quest for Gold” at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on February 23, 2018. They battled it out in the lightweight division.

During the 15-minute match, Ting tossed Sexton to the ground. When the Costa Rican mixed martial artist began to slow down, he was punished by the Kiwi-Malaysian MMA fighter with more leg kicks and cruel combinations.

In the first round, Ting connected on a series of fast and powerful strikes, pushing Sexton back up against the cage. In the second round, the former continued to blast the latter with serious firepower, featuring his best striking combinations.

Sexton tried to change the complexion of the bout in the third round, fishing for a finish with a flying knee and a submission attempt. Ting did just enough to pull away slightly after a grueling match.

In the end, Ting won via split decision, which improved his professional MMA record to 15 wins and 4 losses. Out of those 15 wins, 3 were won via split decision.

Ting’s first win via split decision took place at “SFC 8: Triple Threat” on July 30, 2011 at the West Wave Waitakere City Aquatic Centre in Henderson, Auckland, New Zealand. He defeated Mark “Tyson” Abelardo, 26, of Auckland.

The second time Ting won via split decision was at “ONE: Throne of Tigers” at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on February 10, 2017. He defeated Kamal “Prince of Persia” Shalorus, 40.

Out of Ting’s 4 losses, 1 was also via split decision. In a featherweight bout at “Legend FC 11” on April 27, 2013 at the Chin Woo Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, two of the three judges gave the victory tp his South Korean opponent “Crusader” Young Gwang Choi, 31.
