ONE Championship has confirmed the launching of ONE Super Series, an invitation for all the major disciplines of stand-up arts. When the promotion’s chief executive officer Chatri Sityodtong explained why they are launching another league, he cited the American coffee company and coffeehouse chain Starbucks.

“In the same way that Starbucks offers many flavors of coffee and tea, we offer all martial arts,” Sityodtong explained in a conference call. “ONE Championship is the home of martial arts. We have earned that reputation over the last couple of years.”

ONE Super Series will allow fight fans and martial arts lovers to see all forms of martial arts for the very first time in history instead of mixed martial art. Sityodtong explained, “So you will see matches of, you know, Muay Thai versus taekwondo or taekwondo versus kung fu, and the list goes on and on.”

“If you think about what other organizations do versus what Starbucks does, Starbucks offers many flavors of coffee, and many flavors of tea,” the ONE Championship CEO pointed out. “Our competitors are only serving one flavor of coffee. If you’re a boxing league, you’re only serving black coffee. If you’re a kickboxing league, you’re only serving green tea.”

“If you’re an MMA league, you’re only offering mocha latte in your store, nothing else,” the martial artist-entrepreneur added. “And so, combining and introducing all forms of martial arts competition with our ring and our cage at the highest level is why it’s such a big, big game-changing moment.”

The launching of ONE Super Series is a massive game-changing moment not only for ONE Championship but also for the world of martial arts, Sityodtong noted. He emphasized the massiveness of the new league considering the promotion’s broadcast reach of 136 countries, 1.7-billion viewers around the world and with all the different martial arts to be featured.

“If you think about the movie ‘Enter the Dragon’ where all the greatest martial artists came to come fight each other, this is what this league is about,” Sityodtong said. “We’re already in discussion with a lot of stand-up strikers.”

Directed by Robert Clouse, “Enter the Dragon” was released on July 26, 1973 in Hong Kong and on August 19, 1973 in the United States. It was the final film appearance of Bruce Lee prior to his death on July 20, 1973 and is considered one of the best martial arts films of all time.

In the movie, Lee played a highly skilled Shaolin martial artist from Hong Kong. The character attends a high-profile martial arts competition on a private island.
