7 March 2018 – Bangkok, Thailand : Thailand has always been a hotbed for martial arts in Southeast Asia as it is renowned for being the birthplace of Muay Thai. The nation has famously produced some of the finest athletes in combat sports, but in recent years, a plethora of competitors have made the transition to ONE Championship and have experienced great success inside the cage.
ONE Championship is set to return to Thailand’s capital of Bangkok on March 24, 2018 to hold “ONE: Iron Will,” which marks as the organization’s fourth event in the country. Four outstanding talents from Thailand will don the country’s colors on the undercard namely Shannon “One Shin” Wiratchai, 29, Rika “Tiny Doll” Ishige, 28, Dejdamrong “Kru Rong” Sor Amnuaysirichoke, 39, and Kritsada “Dream Man” Kongsrichai, 26.
Wiratchai, Ishige and Kongsrichai are all from Bangkok while Amnuaysirichoke is from Trang. The four homegrown athletes are seeking to hoist Thailand’s flag aloft by winning their respective matches at “ONE: Iron Will,” which emanates from the state-of-the-art Impact Arena
The main event of “ONE: Iron Will” is a bantamweight clash between division kingpin Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 37, of Brazil and two-division titleholder Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 28, of Australia. The latter will challenge the reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion.
The reigning ONE Featherweight and Lightweight World Champion, Nguyen will be the first three-division world champion of the promotion if he dethrones Fernandes. Watch a clip featuring Nguyen, his wife and their three kids here:
