15 March 2018 – Singapore: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), recently held a worldwide media conference call for “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” featuring reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 21, of Singapore and challenger Mei “V.V” Yamaguchi, 35, of Tokyo, Japan. Also on the call was ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, 47.

“I am super focused on this match,” Yamaguchi stated. “It’s going to be a tough challenge for me, facing the champion, but I am confident in my abilities and I working hard to give my best performance.”

“I’ve been training a lot, especially in jiu-jitsu,” the Japanese martial arts veteran added. “I’m now a black belt, so I think I’m improving a lot. At the same time, I have a new kickboxing coach, so we’re working very hard. I hope I can showcase some of those new skills.”

On May 6, 2016, Lee won via unanimous decision over at “ONE: Ascent to Power” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. This made the American-Singaporean fighter the first and still undefeated ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion.

The rematch between Lee and Yamaguchi was originally scheduled at “ONE: Immortal Pursuit” on November 24, 2017 but the former was injured in a car crash on November 6, 2017 so she had to pull out. Lee was replaced by Gina “Conviction” Iniong, 28, of the Philippines, who lost to Yamaguchi via unanimous decision.

Currently, Yamaguchi has 17 wins, 10 losses and 1 draw while Lee has 8 wins and 0 losses. All of Lee’s wins were via submission except for the one against Yamaguchi.

The first opponent Lee defeated is Aya “Sheklesa” Saber, 26, of Egypt. Aside from Yamaguchi and Saber, the other fighters who lost to Lee are Mona Samir of Egypt, Natalie “The Kilapino” Gonzales Hills, 30, of the Philippines, Lena Tkhorevska, 28, of Poland, Rebecca “The Professor” Heintzman, 31, of the United States, Jenny Huang, 27, of China and Istela Nunes, 25, of Brazil.

“ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” will take place on May 18, 2018 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Meanwhile, here is a short interview with the reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion at the “ONE: Global Superheroes” press conference:
