Mike Tyson and Fabricio Wedum co-starred in “Kickboxer: Retaliation.” While filming a fight scene for the action movie, the retired boxer accidentally punched the UFC athlete in the face, almost breaking the mixed martial artist’s nose.
“(It was an) accident, but he punched me,” Werdum told TMZ Sports referring to Tyson. “(He) almost broke my nose.”
But Werdum was fine with the accident considering that Tyson was very nice on set. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion said, “It’s good ’cause he’s Mike Tyson.”
Released on January 26, 2018, “Kickboxer: Retaliation” was directed by Dimitri Logothetis. He co-wrote the screenplay with James McGrath.
A sequel of the 2016 movie “Kickboxer: Vengeance,” “Kickboxer: Retaliation” is the seventh instalment of the “Kickboxer” movie series. It starred Jean-Claude Van Damme, Alain Moussi, Christopher Lambert, Sara Malakul Lane, former footballer Ronaldinho and “Game of Thrones” actor Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson.
As an actor, Tyson has been acting since the late 1980s and appeared as himself in several films including “Rocky Balboa,” “When Will I Be Loved,” “The Hangover,” “Gates of the Sun” and “Entourage.” As a boxer, Tyson competed from 1985 to 2005.
On the other hand, Wedum made his debut in “Kickboxer: Vengeance.” The sequel is his second movie ever.
Wedum’s fellow UFC athletes Wanderlei Silva, Frank James Edgar and Mauricio Rua were also in the “Kickboxer: Retaliation” cast. Also in the cast were Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner Renzo Gracie, Bellator MMA heavyweight Roy Nelson, Glory Heavyweight Champion Rico Verhoeven and former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Renato da Cunha Sobral.
On March 17, 2018, Werdum will headline “UFC Fight Night 127” with former Bellator Heavyweight Champion Alexander Volkov at the O2 Arena in London, England. Here is a teaser for the event:
