On March 17, 2018, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will hold its ninth 2018 event titled “UFC Fight Night 127” at the O2 Arena in London, England. It will be the 10th UFC event to take place in London.
There are three welterweight matches on the fight card, two of which are on the preliminary card while one is on the main card. The welterweight bout on the main card is between Jamaican-born British Leon “Rocky” Edwards, 26, and Polish-German Peter Sobotta, 31.
Fighting out of West Midlands, England, Edwards has been fighting in the UFC since late 2014. He made his promotional debut on November 8, 2014 at “UFC Fight Night 56” where he knocked out Seth “The Polish Pistola” Baczynski, 36, via punches.
Edwards was born in Kingston, Jamaica. As a professional mixed martial artist, he currently holds a record of 14 wins and 3 losses.
On the other hand, Sobotta has 17 wins and 5 losses. He was born in Zabrze, Poland but grew up in Balinger, Germany.
Sobotta made his UFC debut on May 31, 2014 at “UFC Fight Night 41.” He defeated Pawel “Plastinho” Pawlak, 29, of Poland via unanimous decision.
Both Edwards and Sobotta won their most recent bouts. On May 28, 2017, Sobotta knocked out Ben “Killa B” Saunders, 34, of Florida, United States via punches and knee at “UFC Fight Night 109” and on September 2, 2017, Edwards won at “UFC Fight Night 115” via unanimous decision against Bryan “Bam Bam” Barberena, 28, of Minnesota, USA.
“UFC Fight Night 127” will be headlined by former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio “Vai Cavalo” Werdum, 40, a Brazilian fighting out of Los Angeles, California, and former Bellator Heavyweight Champion Alexander “Drago” Volkov, 29, of Moscow, Russia. Here is a teaser for the event:
