On March 15, 2018, ONE Championship held a worldwide media conference call for “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” featuring reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 21, of Singapore and challenger Mei “V.V” Yamaguchi, 35, of Tokyo, Japan. Also on the call was ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, 47.

During the conference call, Lee talked about not fighting in the cage for almost one year. She said, “I think just by me actually wanting to take another fight is my way of saying that I’m still here.  I’m still in the game, I still have a passion for doing this, and I’m really looking for a great night.”

While fighters who went on hiatus for some period are believed to suffer from ring rust, Lee believes otherwise. She explained, “I think that actually, it will be quite the opposite.”

For Lee, not competing inside the cage for several months has given her much time to prepare to really upgrade her skills in many areas. She and Yamaguchi were originally scheduled to have their highly anticipated rematch on November 24, 2017 at “ONE: Immortal Pursuit” but the former was injured in a car accident in Hawaii weeks prior to the competition so she had to pull out.

At “ONE: Immortal Pursuit,” Gina “Conviction” Iniong, 28, of the Philippines replaced Lee. Via unanimous decision, the Filipino contender lost to Yamaguchi, who is finally having a rematch with Lee at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams.”

“You can see with the past two title defenses since I won the belt that I’ve made leaps and bounds of improvement in how I execute my techniques and how I finish my fights,” Lee said. “And so, this fight will be no different so I’m looking forward to showing that.”

As Lee pointed out, her skills have improved in the last two years and she is excited for the chance to show that. She said she does not want to have any pressure going into the fight against Yamaguchi for the second time.

“I’m just going to go in there,” Lee said. “I’m going to do what I love and the results will show.”

“ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” will take place on May 18, 2018 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Here is a clip featuring Lee and her fellow champions of ONE Championship:
