21 March 2018 – Bangkok, Thailand: Reigning ONE Featherweight and Lightweight World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Sydney, Australia is going for his third world title in the main event of “ONE: Iron Will” set for March 24, 2018 in Bangkok’s Impact Arena. He will be taking on the reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 37, of Brazil in what should be an action-packed matchup.

Days before the historic clash of champions, Nguyen and Fernandes spoke to the media. The Vietnamese-Australian two-division world champion expressed how he loves Thailand, which is home to numerous Muay Thai legends.

“Competing in Bangkok is a privilege,” Nguyen said. “Thailand is such a beautiful country. I can’t wait to showcase my skills to fans in Thailand.”

“There are a ton of Muay Thai legends in Thailand and martial arts owes a great deal to the country. I am proud to be among those legends,” the two-division world champion said. “This event is historic and the biggest night of my career.”

Nguyen feels incredibly honored that he is to be given the chance to show what he can do inside the cage in front of millions of fans who believe in him and support him. He said, “It’s an overwhelming feeling.”

“Bibiano Fernandes is an absolute legend in martial arts and considered one of the best bantamweights in the world,” Nguyen said of his “ONE: Iron Will” opponent. “And it is an honor for me to test myself against him.”

With an aim to give the performance of a lifetime, Nguyen is working round the clock. He noted, “All my matches ended within the distance, and I plan to end this one early too. I’m definitely looking to finish.”

“I know Bibiano will be the best opponent I have ever faced but I’m going to go in there and do my thing,” Nguyen concluded. “I think I can catch him late and my youth and athleticism will be too much. It’s time to make history again.”

Four Thai fighters are on the “ONE: Iron Will” fight card namely Dejdamrong Sor “Kru Rong” Amnuaysirichoke, 39, Shannon “One Shin” Wiratchai, 29, Rika “Tiny Doll” Ishige, 28, and Kritsada “Dream Man” Kongsrichai, 26. Watch a teaser for the promotion’s upcoming event in Bangkok:
