Born in Cameroon, Alain “The Panther” Ngalani, 42, fought out of Hong Kong when he won inside the ONE Championship cage for the fourth time. It was a redemptive win for the Cameroonian mixed martial artist coming from a loss to “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang of Myanmar in an openweight bout at “ONE: Hero’s Dream” on November 3, 2017.
On March 24, 2018, Ngalani competed inside the ONE Championship cage for the ninth time. He fought Ariunbold Tur-Ochir of Mongolia at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand in the light heavyweight division at “ONE: Iron Will,” the fifth 2018 event of the promotion.
With Kemp Cheng as the referee, the light heavyweight bout between Ngalani and Ariunbold ended in split decision in favor of Ngalani. It was the third bout on the preliminary card.
A multiple-time kickboxing world champion, Ngalani placed himself back on the winning track by edging out Tur-Ochir via split decision. Both men gave fans a spirited effort over three rounds, which featured a healthy stream of action from both corners.
“ONE: Iron Will” marked Ariunbold’s promotional debut. After losing to Ngalani, the Mongolian fighter now has 1 win and 1 loss.
On the other hand, the recent win upgraded Ngalani’s record to 4 wins, 4 losses and 1 No Contest. He still holds the ONE Championship record for the fastest knockout in history.
On September 16, 2017, Ngalani knocked out Hideki Sekine of Japan via punch at 0:11 of Round 1 at “ONE: Total Victory” in Jakarta, Indonesia. In the Cameroonian fighter’s promotional debut on September 13, 2013, he knocked out Mahmoud Hassan via spinning heel kick at “ONE: Champions and Warriors.”
Aside from Hassan and Sekine, Ngalani also defeated Igor Subora inside the ONE Championship cage. Ngalani lost to Paul Cheng, Chi Lewis-Parry and Alexandre Machado before facing Aung, who is now the reigning ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion.
Before Aung, Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen of Vietnam and Australia was the first two-division world champion of ONE Championship. The Vietnamese-Australian fighter became the ONE Featherweight and Lightweight World Champion in 2017.
